Observational Drawing

Throughout our observational drawing module, I did various different drawings of our two models. In each drawing I tried to focus on a different element. Sometimes this was the lighting, sometimes a certain part of the anatomy or a shape/movement I was trying to show.

I then started to design characters for the scene I was going to create. These two characters are part of my final major project so, as I only had some quick designs for these, I decided to do some more detailed ones.

I took these characters and then designed a scene. This is my concept art for the scene, taking into account lighting, colour and balance. It is probably the best paintign I've done as I did some real research into colour etc. before I went ahead with it.

The narrative is that the male character enters a mysterious and magical shop. He walks through, nervous and is finally greeted by the gypsy lady who gives him the potion he is looking for. I made this into storyboards and am really happy how they turned out. I took cinematography, lighting and everything I learnt from my observational life drawing classed into consideration when I drew these.
